TAIL WALK!
DEC. 10TH, 2013

DEC 10  TODAY WE HAD AN AWESOME SAILFISH BITE ON OUR RIGHT SHORT BAIT.  IT WAS LIKE NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC WATCHING THE SAIL DANCE AROUND THE FEISTY GOGGLE EYE THEN TAKE OFF LIKE A BULLET WITH IT.  LOTS OF JUMPS FROM THIS FISH AND IT PUT ON QUITE A SHOW.

NOV 12  ONE FOR TWO ON SAILFISH TODAY FISHING GOGGLE EYES FROM KITES JUST OUT FRONT OF PALM BEACH INLET IN ABOUT 130 FEET OF WATER.  GEARING UP FOR WINTER SAILFISHING THIS MONTH WE ARE ANTICIPATING A GREAT SEASON AS SOON AS WE RECIEVE SOME COOL WEATHER.

THE FELLAS FROM SOUTHERN PIPE GOT TO TAKE HOME SOME GOOD EATS WITH THIS NICE WAHOO.
OCT. 18TH, 2013

OCT 18  FULL MOON TODAY WITH MODERATE CLOUD COVER AND A SOUTH CURRENT.  DRAGGING BAITS OUT TO 600 FEET WE FOUND A NICE EDGE WHERE THE GREEN WATER WAS FORCED AGAINST THE NORTHWARD CURRENT OF THE GULFSTREAM.  ON THAT EDGE WE FOUND A LOG AND GRABBED A NICE WAHOO OF JUST UNDER 30 LBS.  THE NEXT PASSES WE GOT A COUPLE DOLPHIN AND HAD ANOTHER WAHOO BITE AS WELL.  SOON, OTHER BOATS FOUND THE SPOT AND THE BITE COOLED OFF.  LATER ON WE CAUGHT A SKIPJACK TUNA TO COMPLETE THE MORNING.

OCT 17  TODAY STARTED OFF IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION WHEN WE DROPPED THE RIGGERS AND CAME UP ON A NICE LOG FLOATING.  WE QUICKLY NABBED A COUPLE DOLPHIN BEFORE ALL THE LINES WERE OUT.  TROLLING ON, WE CAUGHT A BARRICUDA, A BLACKFIN, AND A SMALL WAHOO

OCT 8  BLACKFIN CONTINUE TO BE CAUGHT FROM 180 TO OUT TO 240 THIS WEEK WITH SCATTERED DOLPHIN IN THE MIX AS WELL.

OCT 5  A RELATIVELY QUIET DAY FOR US FISHING OUT OF JUPITER INLET FOR THE BLUEWATER BABES TOURNAMENT.  MOST OF THE ACTION WAS INSIDE THE INLET WHERE THERE WAS A WATER CANNON FIGHT AND A BOAT DECORATING PARTY BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT.  WE DID FIND A FEW BLACKFIN AND ONE DOLPHIN TO MAKE THE DAY ENJOYABLE HOWEVER.  IT WAS A FUN TRIP ALL IN ALL.

SEPT. 29TH, 2013

SEPT 29  A SUPRISING DAY FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.  AFTER TROLLING FOR HOURS IN THE MORNING WITH NOTHING, WE STUMBLED UPON WHAT WE BELIEVED TO BE A WARM CORE EDDIE,  ESSENTIALLY A GIANT SWIRL COMING OFF THE GULFSTREAM.  ONCE WE HIT THAT BLUE WATER, WE FOUND SOME DEBRIS INCLUDING A NICE BAMBOO LOG.  THE FIRST PASS YIELDED A WAHOO AND THE NEXT WE HAD A DOUBLE HEADER OF A BLACKFIN AND ANOTHER WAHOO! AND STILL ONE MORE TURN WE HOOKED ANOTHER DOUBLE HEADER, THIS TIME A NICE DOLPHIN AND ANOTHER WAHOO.  JUST AFTER WE BOXED THOSE FISH WE WERE SETTING UP AGAIN WHEN WE FELT A FAMILIAR "TAP TAP TAP" ON THE ROD TIP.  DROPPING THE BAIT BACK WE HOOKED INTO A SAILFISH, FOUGHT IT AND RELEASED IT.  IN ALL, OUR TOTAL FOR THE DAY WAS 3 WAHOO, 2 BLACKFIN, A DOLPHIN, A SAILFISH, A SKIPJACK TUNA, A BONITO AND A BARRICUDA.  NOW THAT IS A MIXED BAG!

AUG 16  KINGFISH HAVE BEEN CAUGHT OUT IN FRONT OF THE BREAKERS HOTEL USING LIVE BAIT.  TROLLING OUT PAST 250 PRODUCES A BLACKFIN BITE EVERY NOW AND AGAIN.  DOLPHIN HAVE STILL BEEN WAY OFFSHORE UNDERNEATH SCATTERED WEEDS AND FLOATSAM.  WAHOO SHOULD SHOW UP AROUND THE BIG MOON.

JULY 6  HEADING INTO THE SUMMER MONTHS WE ARE OFTEN FINDING OURSELVES USING THE RADAR TO AVOID THE MANY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND T-STORMS THAT HAVE THE TENDENCY TO FLARE UP ON ANY GIVEN DAY.  WITH AN INFLUX OF FRESH WATER, ALBEIT DRIANED FROM OKEECHOBEE, AND OR OTHER INLAND SOURCES, OFTEN TIMES THE WATER CONDITIONS ARE POOR TO SAY THE LEAST.  KINGS HAVE BEEN SPOTTY AROUND THE BREAKERS HOTEL AND HAVE BEEN FICKLE AS TO WHAT THEY WANT TO BITE.  THE OCCASIONAL BLACKFIN CAN BE CAPTURED OUT IN AROUND 250 TO 300, BUT THEIR NUMBERS ARE SPORATIC AND NEVER A SURE THING.  ANY REPORTS OF DOLPHIN THAT WE HAVE HEARD OF HAVE ALL BEEN MANY MANY MILES OFFSHORE, DEEP IN THE GULFSTREAM, FAR AWAY FROM THE GREEN WATER.  IN ALL, IT HAS BEEN ONE OF THOSE DIFFICULT YEARS HERE IN OUR AREA.  WE DO LOOK FOWARD TO THE NEXT TWO UPCOMING FULL MOONS HOWEVER, THEY ARE EXCELLENT TIMES TO SCORE A BIG WAHOO.

MAY 30  SOME SCATTERED DOLPHIN AROUND AS WELL AS BLACKFIN TUNA IN AROUND 150 TO 300 FEET OF WATER JUST TO THE SOUTH OF THE INLET.  WATCH FOR THE OCCASIONAL SAILFISH TO POP UP INTO THE SPREAD TOO.

APRIL 26-28  ROUGHER CONDITIONS THESE PAST FEW DAYS WITH BLACKFIN UP TO 10 LBS AND SCATTERED PEANUT DOLPHIN HERE AND THERE.  WE TROLLED UP A SAILFISH ON OUR FLATLINE BAIT AND FOUGHT IT FOR A FEW MINUTES BEFORE IT CAME OFF SUNDAY MORNING.  LOTS OF BAIT IN THE FORM OF FLYING FISH AND COLBALT BLUE WATER WITH DEFINED COLOR CHANGES AND EDGES.  AS SOON AS THE FISH START SHOWING UP WE SHOULD HAVE ALL THE INGREDIENTS FOR AN AWESOME DAY.  LET'S GET OUT THERE AND CATCH 'EM UP!

APRIL 21  TODAY WE WERE GREETED WITH A SAILFISH BITE WHILE LETTING OUR FIRST LINE OUT RIGHT BY THE RED AND WHITE CAN.  NUMEROUS SCHOOLS OF MIXED BONITO, BLACKFIN, AND SKIPJACK TUNA COULD BE SEEN SCATTERED AROUND FROM 90 TO OUT TO 500 FEET OF WATER.  THESE FISH, GOURGING THEMSELVES ON TINY GLASS MINNOWS WERE OFTEN TIMES SO ENGAGED IN THEIR QUARRY THAT THEY DIDN'T EVEN TURN A HEAD TO TROLLED BAITS.  SCALING DOWN OUR TACKLE TO SMALLER ITEMS LIKE CLARK SPOONS AND FEATHERS HELPED US GET THE BITES WE WANTED AND WE ENDED UP WITH SOME NICE TUNA FILETS AT THE END OF THE MORNING.  WE ALSO PULLED UP A SMALL DOLPHIN FROM UNDERNEATH THE FOAMY SCHOOLS OF TUNA ON OUR DOWN RIGGER.  WE WERE REALLY SURPRISED THAT WE DIDN'T SEE ANY MORE DOLPHIN BECAUSE THE WATER WAS BEAUTIFUL OUT THERE!  LOOKS LIKE SPRING CONDITIONS ARE FINALLY SHOWING UP HERE!

APRIL 6  AS WE MOVE INTO OUR SPRING SEASON, IT IS BECOMING APPARENT THAT THERE ARE STILL A LOT OF SAILFISH LINGERING IN OUR AREA.  WITH CONDITIONS FAVORABLE FOR A GOOD BITE, BOATS THAT ARE IN THE RIGHT DEPTH CAN EXPECT NUMEROUS SHOTS AT SAILS SWIMMING TO THE SOUTH.  ALSO, DOLPHIN ARE SCATTERED OUT THERE AND OFTEN CAUGHT ON LIVE BAIT AS WELL.  LET'S GET OUT THERE AND CATCH SOME MORE!
